Sustainability & Responsibility

At Foundry, we understand the profound impact events can have on both the environment and the community. Committed to sustainability, we integrate these principles into all facets of our operations and events. As a leading event agency in Alberta, we are dedicated to upholding key commitments aligned with the Global Destination Sustainability Index, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, and Canada's Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action (CTA).

  • We will continuously strive to minimize our environmental footprint by implementing practices in accordance with province of Alberta’s sustainability practices that reduce waste generation, conserve energy, and promote the use of sustainable materials and resources.

  • We will educate and encourage our clients, partners, and event attendees to adopt sustainable practices, such as reducing single-use plastics, recycling, and choosing eco-friendly transportation options. We will provide access to potable drinking water at our events, limiting the number of plastic bottles that end up in landfills. We will also strive for conscientious consideration for the power usage that is appropriate for the event venue and experience.

  • We are dedicated to supporting local communities in Alberta by sourcing products and services locally whenever possible, thereby reducing carbon emissions associated with transportation and fostering economic growth in the region. We will provide vendor lists of local products and services that can be leveraged at your event with us.

Truth & Reconciliation

We see the vital role that indigenous culture and consultation plays in our vibrant community of Alberta. We strive for truth, reconciliation, and sovereignty for our province’s Indigenous peoples, and seek opportunities to both include and prioritize Indigenous-owned businesses in our vendor lists, and partner with the many programs steeped in rich Indigenous culture and tradition that makes Alberta such a special place to host an event.

  • We commit to enlightening the public about the rich history and enduring legacy of Indigenous peoples, including the critical narratives surrounding residential schools. Our work will feature educational sessions, workshops, and content that delve into these important themes, fostering awareness and understanding.

  • We strive to build intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect. Our events will act as dynamic platforms for cultural exchange, facilitating meaningful dialogues between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities to enrich mutual appreciation and collaboration

  • We encourage the arts community to engage in collaborative projects that aid the reconciliation process. Our support extends to hosting art exhibits, performances, and cultural displays that amplify Indigenous voices and narratives, thereby contributing to a reconciled future.

  • We urge corporate Canada to embrace the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as a framework for reconciliation. Our event operations will reflect this commitment by respecting Indigenous rights, enhancing opportunities for Indigenous vendors and performers, and engaging with Indigenous communities respectfully and constructively.

  • We advocate for media initiatives that educate and inform the Canadian public about reconciliation. Our events will collaborate with media partners to spotlight reconciliation efforts and showcase the positive developments in Indigenous communities, promoting a narrative of progress and unity.

 

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge that Foundry operates on the traditional territories of many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries. We are situated on Treaty 6, Treaty 7, and Treaty 8 territory, traditional lands of First Nations and Métis peoples. These treaties include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, the Stoney Nakoda Nations, the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, as well as the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III and Otipemisiwak Métis Government. Finally, we acknowledge all Nations – Indigenous and non – who live, work and play on this land, and who honour and celebrate this territory.
